  • Hey Doc- you don't speak much about thoracic pain- do you threat the pain and muscle spasms att the L3-L4 level-I had a cervical (3 discs) ACDF with fusion 20 months ago and my life has been hell..I don't sleep and no medication seems to really help or last very long-I have also had 4 other spinal fusions in the Lumbar area in th elast 20 years.......I am so scared that pain will rule my life- I don't really have a life.
Although I have had metal implants, the pain is really located in the mid-back- severe tightness and muscle spasms..I have been to 3 PT's now and am seeing a pysiatrist.
My last hope is Prolotherapy (just had a phenol block on each side of the thoracic area). If you can help me I would be so grateful-otherwise, thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

  • Hey Doc,
Love your info. I just blew out my knee skiing and found that I am developing Low Back Pain. Can this be related to the knee injury or possible from the fall? Can decompression help with my back in this case?

Sciatica Exercises, The Best Course of Treatment

Ahhhh.....the sound patients make when they are relieved from the grueling pain of Sciatica or Sciatic radiculopathy.

Sciatica is a set of symptoms, not a diagnosis itself.  It is usually caused by compression or irritation of one or more nerves that stem from the spinal cord in the lower back region.  Sciatica can be caused by a number of different things such as: degenerative discs, L5 nerve root impingement, piriformis syndrome, etc...

Best course of treatment for sciatica seems to be exercises.

In our office we implement a lot of hands on stretching that patients can do at home while or along with their recommended treatment plans we give them.

Some stretches and exercises really truly help with sciatica like, piriformis syndrome stretch, knee to chest stretching, and even Yoga!

Hope that helps,

DR
